FALL INTO WINTER – CHANGE OF SEASONS IN BEND

Updated: Oct 25, 2022

The change of seasons in Bend has begun. We can hardly believe it’s November already! Where does the time go? Students are preparing for cooler temperatures as we gear up for snow sports and activities up at Mt Bachelor! The crisp fall air is filled with celebratory buzz as we anticipate the holiday season.

We know that family time is important around the holidays. At the same time, it is not always feasible for students to go home for every family event. Accepting this fact is part of becoming an independent adult. At CCT we ask that all students stay in the program for the Thanksgiving festivities. To kick off the celebrations, on Thanksgiving Day, we participate in the “I like Pie Run” with the option of a 5K or 10K walk/run.

The change of seasons in Bend is beautiful. The early morning jaunt along the scenic Deschutes River in Bend allows us to enjoy the extraordinary Fall colors and prepares us for the feast ahead!

Midday we host a large Thanksgiving spread for students, family, and staff. We rent out a local hall so there is plenty of space for everyone to be together, eat traditional foods, share appreciations, and connect as a Framily (Friends and Family). The weekend is also filled with fun activities for students and time for families to explore and play in and around Bend. In addition, don’t forget it is also opening weekend up at Mt. Bachelor!

With December approaching quickly thereafter, many students are delighted to travel back home for the Holiday Break. Other students stay at CCT to embrace the holiday season with staff and peers in our lovely, snowy mountain town. It’s a favorite time of year for many of us! The whole week is jam-packed with activities such as ice skating, sledding, skiing and snowboarding, seeing movies, eating dinner out, enjoying white elephant parties, and sharing laughs and fun times together.

Last but not least, we have New Year’s Eve! Our students bring in the New Year enjoying a sober dance and celebration! Here’s to 2018!
