RECREATION TRIP | THE OREGON COAST

Updated: Oct 25, 2022

Each month at Cascade Crest Transitions, clients have the opportunity to take part in a Recreation Trip. The trips vary by season – we could be skiing at Mt. Hood, mountain biking in Hood River, white water rafting on the Umpqua River, or having an urban adventure in Portland. Now that temperatures are warming up we headed out to the Oregon coast to catch some waves!

We camped at Cape Kiwanda State Natural Area on Oregon’s breathtaking northern coast. Our campsite was a short walk to the beach where we played frisbee, did some beach combing, watched the sunset and played games around the campfire. We had two days of surf lessons in Pacific City. On specialized trips, we leave outfitting up to professionals who know the area and who can provide equipment and instruction. For some, it was their first time getting into a wetsuit and attempting to ride a wave. Others were avid ocean lovers and couldn’t wait to get out in the surf.

Our clients speak to Rec Trips as being highlights of their time at Cascade Crest Transitions. We are fortunate to be able to offer fun and adventurous ways for students to test their boundaries, try something new and shake up the routine of our regular schedule. It also allows for students to disconnect from technology and reconnect with the natural environment.

Although we have access to amazing recreational opportunities every week in Central Oregon, it is definitely a unique opportunity to get out of town with a smaller group and experience something brand new. We are already looking forward to our next trip to The Umpqua River and Crater Lake!
